CAMERON AUSTIN INCREASES POINTS LEAD WITH NSMS VICTORY

Roseville, CA……..The North State Modified Series, presented by Protect the Harvest, made their only appearance at All American Speedway in Roseville for the 2019 season with a fast-paced 60 lap main event. Kelseyville’s Donovan Cox won the Lucas Oil Dash for $100 and then led the field to green. Cox led the opening lap before three-time NSMS champion Darrin Knight used the outside line to lead lap two. Roseville’s Terry Deal spun in turn two for a caution on lap four. Points leader Cameron Austin of Santa Rosa used the yellow to sweep around Knight on the outside to lead lap five.

Knight and Jason Philpot of Sacramento raced side-by-side for several laps before a caution for Cox hitting the infield tires on the backstretch. The pair switched positions with Philpot now inside Knight, which Knight used to clear him for second. Deal spun again with 14 to go which gave Knight a shot at Austin. Austin proved too strong as he motored away for his first 2019 win ahead of Knight, fast-time qualifier Scott Winters, Darrin Sullivan, and Philpot.

Jason Philpot took home the Frank’s Radios certificate as well at $50 and a Scribner Jug for finishing second in the Lucas Oil Dash for Cash. Other Frank’s cash cards went to Dale Didoha and Terry Deal.

Knight earned the Naake Shocks award, and Rick Avila earned the Keyser Manufacturing Hard Charger award.

The next North State Modified series race will be at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka on July 20.

The North State Modified Series is presented by: Protect the Harvest, Lucas Oil, Hoosier Tire West, Sunoco Race Fuels, Naake Suspension, Five Star Bodies, Racer Bling, Keyser Racing Products, Scribner Plastics, Gone Fishin' Marine, and Franks Radios, 707 Graphics, Jimmy Strauss Jeeps and Axtec Solar.
