Miller Hoping For Rhododendron Redemption
Coquille, Oregon driver David Miller has won just about everything a late model driver can win at Redwood Acres Raceway. The veteran of over 20 years has won the Fall Spectacular four times in 2004, 2010, 2019 and 2021. In addition, he has five feature wins between starts in the North State Challenge Series and Airport Auto Brokers Later Model Series as well as 12 total feature wins in RAR’s late model division since 2014.
As usual, Miller was one of the favorites going into last season’s inaugural running of the Rhododendron 100. He was the leader at the halfway point of the race but contact on the mid-race restart with Brandon Ash resulted in a massive incident that knocked Miller out of the race and put Ash upside down in turn one. Thankfully both drivers were unharmed.
Miller returned to win at the Acres later in the season in the Firecracker 100 but it was his lone victory in 2022. He will be hoping to start 2023 by ending the 100-lap late model main in victory lane $3,000 richer.
Legends, bombers, mini stocks and roadrunners will join the late models for the Rhododendron 100 this Saturday April 29. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Automasters in Eureka, Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna. Tickets can also be purchased on RacinTheAcres.com or at the gate on race day. Grandstands open at 4:00 while racing will begin at 5:30. The event will also be live streamed on RacinTheAcres.tv and Speedsport.tv.
