Firecracker 100 Headlines Saturday’s Action At The Acres

For the sixth year, Redwood Acres Raceway will be hosting the Firecracker 100 for the late model division. The 100-lap race will be followed with the annual fireworks display. In addition, the Upstate Bomber Series will be racing at the Acres for the first time in 2023. Local Legends and mini stocks will also be racing with Harper Motors presenting the action-packed evening.

The first Firecracker 100 took place in 2015 and was won by Eureka’s Brandon White. White followed that by winning the next three Firecracker 100s in 2016, 2017 and 2018. David Henderson won in 2019. COVID prevented the 2020 event while David Miller has won the previous two in 2021 and 2022. Current division leader Brandon Barnwell will be looking to take the biggest victory of his career Saturday which includes $2,000 for the winner.

The Upstate Bombers will be visiting RAR for the first of two times in 2023. Their first race of the season took place at Ukiah Speedway mid-June with Dustin Kuhl winning. Redwood Acres Raceway’s top bomber drivers including Doug Way, Tyler Krupa and Jordan Krupa will be looking to upset the touring series visitors to take the $1,000 winner’s purse.

Saturday’s Legends races should be highly competitive, particularly between the top three in the point standings. Tyler Krupa leads Tyler Avelar and Landon Green by eight and nine points respectively. Each driver will be fighting as hard for every position of every lap in every race.

Gary Klinetobe will be hoping to pad his points lead as he has been a dominant force in the mini stocks.

Tickets for Saturday night’s races can be purchased at Automasters in Eureka, Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna. Tickets can also be purchased on RacinTheAcres.com or at the gate on race day. Fans that are unable to attend this weekend’s races in person have the option to view them via live stream by visiting RacinTheAcres.tv or SpeedSport.tv. An open practice is scheduled for Friday July 7 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
