Who Can Beat Jeremy Doss?
There is little doubt that the odds-on favorite for Saturday’s Legends Of The Redwoods Shootout is Upper Lake, California’s Jeremy Doss. He has been virtually invincible in the division at Redwood Acres Raceway since he made his first start in 2021.
In the 10 races Doss has started between 2021, 2022 and 2023, Doss has a perfect main event record. The only “blemishes” on his stellar record are two second place heat race finishes and a third fastest qualifying effort. Other than that, Doss has been at the top of every chart he has been part of.
All good things must eventually come to and end and there are numerous drivers who will be hoping to end Doss’ perfect feature win streak on Saturday night.
The driver who has provided Doss his biggest challenges has been Brandon White. The 2022 season at RAR featured several memorable back-and-forth races between the young on-track rivals. A break here or there and White could have been the one in victory lane.
Doss’ perfection has extended into the NorCal Legend Series. In the seven races thus far in the series’ inaugural season, Doss has won all seven, including the event that was held at RAR during the Redwood Acres Fair on June 23.
Cole Brown has been Doss’ prime competitor in 2023 and has been highly impressive in his first full year behind the wheel of a Legend car. Brown was runner-up to Doss in the June race and could be the driver to beat Doss on Saturday night.
Jeremy’s father Mike Doss has also competed in the NorCal Legends and is third in the standings. The veteran driver has the experience to beat his son and could have the speed too. Who would know a driver’s strengths and weaknesses behind the wheel better than a father?
The top three in RAR Legends points will be looking to make their mark in what would be the biggest win for any of them. Tyler Krupa still has yet to take a Legend feature win and doing it on Saturday night would be epic. Landen Green has already claimed a feature win in 2023 and would love to make a statement win while also gaining in the points. Tyler Avelar is the defending RAR Legends champion and you can bet he will be wanting to take his first win in 2023.
Tickets for Saturday’s race are currently available on RacinTheAcres.com and can also be purchased in-person at Automasters in Eureka, Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna. Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day. The front gates open at 4:00 while racing begins at 5:30. The race will also be livestreamed on RacinTheAcres.tv and SpeedSport.tv. An open practice is also scheduled for Friday July 28 from 1:00 until 6:00.
